Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using 8scribo, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. 8scribo is a platform for minting haiku and doodle NFTs on the Tezos blockchain.

2. Wallet Connection & Authentication

You connect to 8scribo using your own Tezos wallet (Temple, Kukai, or Kukai Embed with social login). You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your wallet and private keys. We do not have access to your private keys or funds.

3. Content Ownership & Responsibility

You retain full ownership of the content you create and mint on 8scribo. However:

  • You must have the rights to any content you upload
  • You are responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe on others' intellectual property
  • You agree not to mint content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, or violates others' rights
  • We reserve the right to remove content or ban users who violate these terms

4. Blockchain & NFT Disclaimer

NFTs minted on 8scribo are recorded permanently on the Tezos blockchain:

  • Blockchain transactions are irreversible and immutable
  • Gas fees are required and non-refundable
  • We cannot reverse, cancel, or refund minting transactions

5. Service Availability

8scribo is provided "as is" without warranties. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service and may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We are not liable for losses resulting from service disruptions, blockchain issues, or wallet connectivity problems.

6. Fees & Royalties

Minting requires Tezos blockchain transaction fees. You can set royalties (0-25%) on your NFTs, which are enforced by compatible marketplaces.

Privacy & Cookies

Data We Collect

8scribo collects minimal data to provide our services:

  • Wallet Address: Your Tezos wallet address when you connect (stored locally in your browser)
  • Minted Content: Haiku text, images, and metadata you create (stored on IPFS and Tezos blockchain)
  • Analytics: Anonymized usage data via PostHog (EU instance) when you consent

Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser storage for:

  • PostHog Analytics: Only when you accept cookies (3-day expiration)
  • Wallet Connection: Beacon SDK stores connection state in localStorage
  • Playlist Preferences: Your haiku playlist settings (localStorage)
  • Banner Acknowledgments: To remember dismissed banners

If you decline cookies, we operate in cookieless mode and analytics are disabled.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • PostHog: Analytics, opt-in only
  • Pinata: IPFS pinning service for media storage
  • TzKT: Tezos blockchain indexing API
  • OBJKT: NFT marketplace data API

Data Retention

Blockchain data (NFTs, metadata) is permanent and cannot be deleted. Analytics data is retained according to PostHog's policies. You can clear wallet connection data by disconnecting your wallet or clearing browser storage.

Rights & Licensing

Your Creative Rights

When you mint on 8scribo, you retain ownership of your creative work. You select a license (CC0, CC BY, CC BY-NC, etc.) that determines how others can use your work. This license is recorded in the NFT metadata and displayed publicly.

8scribo Exhibition Rights

All haikus minted on 8scribo automatically grant 8scribo the following rights:

  • Exhibition Rights: We may display your haiku in physical and digital exhibitions
  • Tape Project Rights: We may include your haiku in our cassette tape anthology project
  • Platform Promotion: We may feature your work on our website and social media

Your words inscribed here will echo in galleries, float within events, and wind through cassette tape reels. The haiku remains yours—we merely share its voice with the world.

These rights are non-exclusive and do not affect your ownership or chosen Creative Commons license. This is recorded in your NFT metadata as 8scribo_rights.
